I stumbled upon this earlier today. This documentary was made by Rosie Perez (one of the coolest people ever). In the documentary she tries to answer the question :

I'm so glad Rosie Perez made this documentary, I learned so much about puerto ricans, and the land. It's something that will make you cry and laugh. Everytime I watch it I get more proud of being Puerto rican more and more..
